Notable Trees in Fovant

Elm (Ulmus minor var. vulgaris)

The Fovant Elm ST99692922
(Click on grid reference to see where it once stood)

This fine Elm tree once stood at the junction of Church Lane, Tisbury Road and Moor Hill in the grass triangle but was one of the many which died of Dutch Elm disease. A tree was planted to replace it but it was vandalised and now just a seat remains near where once the tree stood. The picture below is a postcard which has the date written on it of 15 January 1916 and is in the archives of the Fovant History Interest Group.
